The Vietnam program is open to British Columbia families only. The Vietnam program is offered in partnership with our facilitator, Terre Des Hommes.
Married couples and single applicants can adopt from Vietnam. The adoptive parent must be 20 years older than the child.
Both boys and girls with correctable or special needs are available for adoption from Vietnam. The needs range from mild, correctable issues to more serious conditions. Some of the conditions seen are cleft lip and/or palate, club foot, correctable heart problems, hemangioma, strabismus or esotropia, risk factors (hypotonia, hypertonia, low birth weight, prematurity), hepatitis B, and others. Prospective adoptive families need to be open to adopting a child of either gender.
It is difficult to provide a specific time frame for the adoption process as the political situation and legislation of any country is subject to change.
Once an application is received and the home study is approved, CHOICES will assist in completing your paperwork and preparing the dossier for Vietnam. In collaboration with our facilitator, we will guide and assist you through all phases of the adoption process while ensuring all requirements met both in Canada and in Vietnam. More information on the adoption process can be found here.
