The Philippines program is open to British Columbia families only.
The Philippines program is offered in partnership with our facilitator, Cornerstone Adoption Agency. Relative adoption may not require a facilitator. Please contact CHOICES for more information.
The Philippines has signed and ratified the Hague Convention.
Requirements
Couples who have been married for one year, and living together for at least 2 years, are eligible to adopt. Single applicants are also accepted.
Applicants must be at least 27 years old and at least 16 years older than the child to be adopted.
The maximum age gap between the child and prospective adoptive parents is 45 years.
Married couples can apply to adopt children up to 6 years. Singles can apply for children over 6.
There are no age restrictions for applicants applying to adopt children that are related to them.
The Children
Boys and girls 3 years of age and older are available for adoption, unless they are related to the adoptive applicants.
The waiting child program has a number of special needs children of either sex, or older children from 9 – 15 years of age are available. Children belonging to a sibling group of three or more are available and children found positive of heap B or HIV. Children with minor medical conditions or developmental delays are also available in the waiting child program.
Time Frame
It is difficult to provide a specific time frame for the adoption process as the political situation and legislation of any country is subject to change.
Process
Once an application is received and the home study is approved, CHOICES will assist in completing your paperwork and preparing the dossier for the Philippines. In collaboration with our facilitator, we will guide and assist you through all phases of the adoption process while ensuring all requirements met both in Canada and in the Philippines.
