Children
Both girls and boys are available for adoption and live in orphanages. Adoptive parents can request a proposal of a child under 12 months or older if they wish.
The Process
It takes approximately 3 years to complete the adoption process once the dossier has been received by China. The adoption is completed in China. Adoptions in China are done through the Chinese government agency "The China Centre for Adoption Affairs".
Adoptive Parents
Adoptive parents must be a married couple. They must be at least 30 years old as well as 16 years older than the child to be adopted. There is currently a quota regarding single applicants. Single applicants must be under 50 years old. Both parties must be a minimum of 30 years old and a maximum of 55 years old. If either party is over 50 years old, then they must be prepared to accept a child older than 3 years old.

- Family Outreach International (FOI) is a nonprofit organization that helps Canadian families adopt children from China. FOI was established in 1995 and has since assisted in the adoption of over 450 children. FOI is based in Ottawa.
